Metroidvania titles are rather unusual in their approach. Sometimes they’re short adventures that have some backtracking, whereas other times they have countless hidden things to discover. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is somewhere in the middle of these two areas. There is a lot to discover, while also having a considerable amount to go through. With this in mind, we wanted to give players an idea of how long this adventure will be.
How Long to Beat Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Main Story
Unlike a lot of metroidvania titles, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’s length depends on your skill, and approach. As we mentioned in our review, a lot of the alternate paths can be fully, or at least largely, explored when you reach any given area.
With a fair amount of exploration I ended up finishing the story in about 15 hours. Without a lot of exploration I would estimate 10 or less is possible, with the amount depending on how quickly you figure out the puzzles.
Full Exploration
Finding everything should be somewhere in the 30 hour range. This amount will go up, or down, depending on whether you have the Prosperity Bird from the Deluxe Edition. Without that it should be roughly the same amount, or slightly less, if you follow a guide.
Most of the issues don’t stem from finding things, as much as overcoming the challenges. A good number of coins took 10 or more attempts because the timing is rather rough. Saving this for post game can sometimes be easier since additional skills trivialize certain sections.
Those worried about content will be pleased to know there are a lot of collectibles with lore, optional missions, and other things to do. Even some of the optional areas have rather tricky puzzles that might take a few minutes to figure out, or find the solution to.
