Despite its turbulent history, including a pause due to slow progress and a change in development hands, the game is “alive and well,” according to Karch. This news comes after Saber Interactive’s separation from Embracer Group, taking the KOTOR remake and other significant projects with it. The company now operates independently, holding over 38 game projects and thousands of employees across various studios.

The remake was first announced in 2021 and has since been the subject of speculation regarding its release timeline. Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors hinted at a potentially extended development period. Nevertheless, Saber Interactive’s recent updates bring a renewed hope for the highly anticipated game’s future.
