Lollipop Chainsaw is Getting a Remake in 2023

San Romero High School’s chainsaw-wielding cheerleader is making a comeback. Lollipop Chainsaw, the wild cult classic from Grasshopper Manufacture, is reviving Juliet Starling’s outrageous adventure under the new studio Dragami Games, led by the game’s former producer and publisher CEO Yoshimi Yasuda.

Yasuda happily announced that the rights to the one-of-a-kind title were purchased from Kadokawa Games, enabling the new developer — some of the original Lollipop Chainsaw devs are a part of this team — to bring the 2012 title to modern systems and new audiences.

While details are scarce, we do know that the Lollipop Chainsaw remake will carry certain changes from the original. Notably, the excellent soundtrack, which included notable songs like Cherry Bomb, will be revised. Only a handful of songs will make it over to the remake, but we don’t currently know which will be retained. Additionally, the visuals will “be taking a more realistic approach to the graphics.”

Again, we don’t have the full details on these vague statements, but we certainly hope the spirit and style of Juliet Starling’s zombie-slaying experience remain intact. We will have to wait until we near the broad 2023 release window to learn more.
