Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is out now, giving fans the best way to embody the Na’vi to date. Ubisoft Massive has painstakingly crafted a gorgeous slice of Pandora to explore, brimming with exotic locales and creatures. While it’s a stunning journey even when taken on-foot, the Na’vi have more exciting modes of transportation at their disposal.
As you might have guessed from the game’s box art, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora offers up a flying mount for your digital Na’vi. However, gaining the privilege to take to the skies on such a majestic beast isn’t provided immediately as you step out onto Pandora for the first time.
Read on to find out how you can secure your own flying Banshee, referred to as ikran by the Na’vi locals, in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
How to Get an Ikran Flying Mount
Good news! Players will be pairing an ikran with their Na’vi by progressing the main campaign, but you will need to sink several hours. Depending on time spent exploring and completing optional quests, you should be gaining an ikran around the 5-hour mark.
You will know the moment is upon you when the mission titled “Take Flight” enters your quest log. Players will need to ascend a rookery in a bid to bond with their own ikran/banshee. Enjoy the epic ascension to the peak of the rocky structures and you will be rewarded with a (customizable!) ikran. Hitting this milestone will also unlock the last skill tree: Rider.
From this point on, your Na’vi can summon their bonded ikran to fly through the skies of Pandora, at least if prerequisites have been met in later areas. You can even call to the beautiful winged beast while in freefall, making for epic sequences when leaping off cliffs towards RDA refineries or engaging VTOLs in aerial combat.
Now that you know, start burning through the main questline until you find yourself face-to-face with your own ikran!
