We finally got the much anticipated extended look at Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine at yesterday’s State of Play event from Sony, and boy it didn’t disappoint–from the brutal and vicious combat to spectacular set pieces, the devs have made sure that this is a completely different version of Wolverine than what we’ve seen from any other media including the animated series and the films. And of course, the action completely steals the show along with the health regen system that ensures the more Wolverine slashes, the more his health gets refilled.
And like many players out there, if you want to pre-order Marvel’s Wolverine, you’ll be glad to know that it includes these following bonus contents that are going to appeal to all fans of the iconic character:
- Classic Brown Suit
- Reflective Claws
- +1 technique Point
- 4x PlayStation Avatars
Wolverine comes out in two different editions–the standard version of the game will cost you $69.99/£69.99 while the Digital Deluxe version has a price tag of $79.99/£79.99. There’s no mention of a collector’s edition that’s geared towards enthusiasts so if you were hoping for physical collectibles like statues and maybe action figures, looks like there won’t be any of that. However, the Deluxe edition is no slouch and contains the following additional contents, on top of all the pre-order goodies:
- Five Suits
- Five Claws
- +3 Technique Points
The ‘Technique points’ seem like character attribute points for unlocking skills and other in-game abilities for Wolverine, which also means that those who get the Deluxe edition will have a total of 4 skills ready to be bought right from the start, making way for more devastating moves that you can unleash on your foes, a lot sooner than what’s possible in the standard edition.
The way Insomniac took Spider-Man and pretty much reinvented him up to the towering standards of current-gen AAA gaming, from both technical and mechanical standpoints, it sure looks like they have done the same with Wolverine as well, which is slashing it’s way into the Playstation 5 on September 15 this year.
