With Activision Blizzard being bought by Xbox, many people were worried that Call of Duty would become exclusive to Microsoft. However, it looks like the brand will stay on PlayStation for the foreseeable future.
Phil Spencer tweeted out an announcement that Xbox and PlayStation has signed a deal for Call of Duty games to stay on Sony consoles for at least until 2033. You at his announcement below.
“We are pleased to announce that Microsoft and @PlayStation have signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. We look forward to a future where players globally have more choice to play their favorite games.“
It appears only Call of Duty games are a part of this agreement. This could mean other IPs like Crash Bandicoot, Spyro or Tony Hawk could be Xbox exclusive if future games are made from these franchises.
