For those of you who’ve been a long time player of the iconic Call of Duty franchise, the name Captain Price needs absolutely no introduction–we first saw him in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and since then he’s been a quintessential part of most of the campaigns to have come out of the series. And right now, the character has been an integral part of Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty stories that take place in a starkly different version of our real world, and according to the devs, the upcoming Modern Warfare 4 is set to feature a very different version of Captain Price, making for some truly impactful character-centric storytelling.
In a recent interview with Xbox Wire, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 narrative director Jeff Negus has said that Price in the the upcoming title will be “a different version” of the character after he chose to murder Shepherd in the campaign of Modern Warfare 3.
“We get to forge a new path for him, and see what happens when he’s now in different conflicts –how does this version of Price resolve that conflict?” Negus said.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 features multiple storylines and one of them is centered around a rather vengeful Captain Price who is undergoing a “personal war from the shadows as he stays one step ahead of those hunting him.” Also, “as Price’s off-book mission collides with the forces behind the invasion, the war spreads beyond anyone’s control,” a line from the upcoming game’s story description states.
The brief outline of the story also says that Price will be portrayed in the game as an “operator-turned-outlaw” who is now working “outside the system he once served.”
“A hunt for revenge draws Price toward a weapon powerful enough to shift the balance of power, setting in motion a conflict far greater than he ever anticipated,” says the story synapses of Modern Warfare 4: “Forced into uneasy alliances and illicit operations, Price is pulled deeper into consequences he can no longer escape.”
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to launch on October 23 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch 2.
