Cosmetics in the Upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Will feel “Authentic” to the Series

Fancy cosmetics that mostly serve as eye catching goodies have long been part of the iconic Call of Duty franchise, even when some of those have been taken to extremes like the Nicky Minaj-based skin in Modern Warfare 2. But according to Infinity Ward, the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s cosmetics including skins pack and other auxiliaries will all be firmly grounded to the themes of the game in a consistent way. In a recent post on Twitter/X, developer Infinity Ward wrote the following:

“Every aspect of Modern Warfare 4 is anchored in the game’s narrative. Every feature, every decision needs to feel authentic to what Modern Warfare is, and that includes cosmetics and collabs. We’re committed to keeping it grounded and transparent, and we want to hear from you on what you’d like to see in our game.”

This is definitely great news for the upcoming title as there won’t be anything that’ll be jarring enough to take the player out of the experience or cause any sort of visual distractions that feel totally out of place.

However, publisher Activision had made similar promise in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 as both Treyarch and Raven Software had stated that “Black Ops 7 needs to feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting,” even though after only a few months of release, we’ve seen crossover-related skins pop up in the game that felt drastically out of place with everything else in the title along with it’s lore. But hopefully we won’t be seeing any of this from the upcoming Modern Warfare 4 which will definitely be appreciated by all players.

In other news of the next Call of Duty, it’s been recently confirmed that the PC version of Modern Warfare 4 will have various Ray Tracing effects for reflections, ambient occlusion, shadows and volumetrics.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to launch on October 23 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch 2.
