Bandai Namco Confirms Ongoing Support for Elden Ring Following Patch 1.17

Bandai Namco Entertainment has formally confirmed that post-launch maintenance for Elden Ring will continue, assuring players that further patches remain in development. The publisher addressed the game’s future directly within the patch notes for the recently deployed Version 1.17 update—which can be accessed via Bandai Namco’s Official Statement—explicitly stating plans to “continue to make improvements” across all supported platforms.

This confirmation comes during a renewed surge of momentum for FromSoftware’s 2022 action RPG. Beyond standard patch deployment, the title recently expanded its footprint with the launch of the Tarnished Edition on Nintendo Switch 2, alongside the standalone release of the Tarnished Pack DLC. The new content introduces two additional character classes, fresh weaponry, and extended customization features to the baseline experience.

While the publisher’s statement confirms active support, players should temper expectations regarding future additions. The incoming updates are expected to focus strictly on technical maintenance, balance adjustments, and bug fixes rather than expanding the narrative or adding substantial landmasses akin to the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. Nevertheless, long-term operational support remains a welcome commitment for an active community spanning multiple console generations.

FromSoftware’s broader operational focus has largely shifted toward new initiatives. The studio is currently preparing to launch The Duskbloods, a Switch 2-exclusive multiplayer title directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. Outside of interactive media, the franchise is set to expand into cinema, with director Alex Garland helm’s Elden Ring feature film adaptation currently scheduled for a March 2028 theatrical release via A24. For existing active players, however, Bandai Namco’s commitment ensures the core gameplay balance in the Lands Between will remain actively monitored for the foreseeable future.
