Capcom does not seem interested in reviving the black sheep of the series that is Resident Evil 5 or 6, but this is according to outside sources. Considering the sale numbers the series has made with those titles, it is better if they are left forgotten and Capcom seems to agree with this. After all there is more priorities like resurrecting the Mega Man series and all of its sub series. There is a ton of work to do and it would be better for Capcom to just put budget in the things that people want instead of those that don’t.
Capcom seems uninterested
Considering how controversial these games were, it feels more like a risk than something people actually want to see like Code Veronica. Resident Evil is on a streak of amazing games and remakes, and there is a ton of potential in the series left, however Capcom shouldn’t dry the whole well by making more stuff only for Resident Evil. It is crazy how much franchises are held hostage by the company, and it would be nice to see most of these be revived. Darkstalkers comes to mind when you ask me about a franchise that needs to come back too.
There’s a legacy of franchises that need to make a comeback, and Capcom is definitely the holder of most of them, because the characters and settings are beloved by many. Breath of Fire is another one that comes to mind, and considering that JRPGs are in vogue, it feels like a no brainer to try and resurrect those too. Capcom is missing out on some potential profits by not doing so, as fans of these series are still wanting to have more of them in the future, they did mention wanting to do this recently too.
