2026 is turning out to be a fantastic year for Valve as according to Alinea Analytics, the company has made a total of $15 billion in revenue just in the previous 8 months of this year and it’s solely via ongoing videogame sales from Steam. Alinea’s report (by Rhys Elliot) also highlights the top-grossing games on Steam in this year which shows Forza Horizon 6 coming on top with over $210 million for Valve, while other titles on the list include 2026′ smash hit Crimson Desert and Meccha Chameleon with both of them being two massively popular new IPs released in this year.
The other titles from the list are Resident Evil Requiem, Slay the Spire 2 and Subnautica 2 and all of these games have amounted to about $1 billion dollars of revenue for Valve.
Elliot has also praised Crimson Desert for making a huge impact for a New IPs in this year: “Crimson Desert, with its $203M, accounts for about 18% of all new-IP revenue in the top 100. When we take Crimson out of the analysis, the 62 new-IP games make up only about 39%.”
He also points out that if the range of highest grossing titles on Steam is increased to the top 100 games from 2026, the gross revenues will go up exponentially: “Of the new-game top 100, 63% were actually new IP, but 52.5% of the revenue ($1.25B) came from established IP,” the analyst said.
So although a lot of the established IPs are doing most of the heavy lifting (aside from Crimson Desert which is doing phenomenally well so far), 2026 is turning out to be one of the most promising years for Valve, in more ways than one.
Crimson Desert had surpassed a total of 6 million sold units worldwide in less than three months of it’s release and with more contents set to release throughout the year including the upcoming DLC titled ‘Charting the Unknown’, the sales numbers are sure to grow even higher.
