Massive Entertainment has deployed a significant content update for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, introducing a specialized vendor designed to streamline the pursuit of high-tier loot. The centerpiece of this update is the Escalation Requisition Vendor, now situated in the Base of Operations. This new contact allows level 40 players to exchange Escalation Tokens for Prototype Gear, which currently represents the most powerful equipment tier in the game. Unlike standard High-End or Gear-set pieces, Prototype items feature superior attributes and unique augments, making them essential for players tackling the game’s most difficult endgame activities.
The vendor’s inventory is structured around three distinct cache types to give players more agency over their builds. A permanent Prototype Random Cache provides a single item of any type, while the Prototype Gear and Weapon Caches operate on a daily rotation. These rotating options target specific equipment slots or weapon classes, offering a higher probability of “god-roll” attributes. To support this rollout, Ubisoft is compensating the community for recent loot-drop bugs by granting three Prototype Core Caches to anyone who logs in between May 12 and May 26.
Beyond the gear grind, the update expands the game’s lore and world-building through a new Classified Assignment titled “The Capitol Anomaly.” This mission directs Agents to the headquarters of The Capitol Globe newspaper to investigate SHD network failures. The assignment follows the traditional Classified format, emphasizing environmental storytelling and exploration. Players who navigate the building can recover hidden ECHOes and audio logs, eventually earning themed backpack trophies and guaranteed named item drops. Access is granted to all players at level 30, with Season Pass owners receiving immediate entry.
The studio is also leaning heavily into limited-time events to maintain player engagement throughout the month. The classic “Assault” and “Ambush” Global Events are scheduled to return back-to-back, offering massive damage multipliers for specific playstyles. These will be bolstered by the “Vanguard Overdrive” event starting May 15, which provides substantial buffs to reload speeds and movement. For those looking to finish their Season Pass, a 5x XP multiplier will be active during the final week of May, coinciding with the conclusion of the Cherry Blossom seasonal event.
