Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was one of the sleeper hits of last year that managed to wow RPG fans across all platforms and it sure looks like we don’t have to wait much longer to experience another game in the series as developer Warhorse has just officially announced their next two projects which include a new Kingdom Come title and an open-world Lord of the Rings RPG set in Middle-earth. In their Twitter/X page, the developer has confirmed their upcoming titles and has said that they’ll reveal more info in the near future: “We’re excited to tell you more when the time is right”.
However, their next Kingdom Come title has only been described as “a new adventure” rather than a new mainline entry in the ‘Deliverance’ saga of titles which indicates it can be a game of a different genre set in the same Universe. And although there has been no confirmation from the devs on this, what’s fueling the speculation is the fact that the Embracer group has stated recently that they aim to deliver the next Kingdom Come game in players’ hands by the time of the next fiscal year which is between the months of April 2027 and March 2028.
This also means by sometimes in next year, a new Kingdom Come title may come out and could even be as early as the next summer, although that seems a bit unlikely. And given the scale, ambitions and the total development period that’s a necessity for a successor of last year’s terrific Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and the fact that Warhorse is likely to surpass their last game in every possible way, it makes sense that if another title in the series is released next year, it’ll be a vastly different breed of experience rather than a direct successor to Deliverance 2 which would take far longer to create, for obvious reasons.
