Sucker Punch’s latest action adventure game Ghost of Yotei, is about to get a new Roguelike, survival mode named Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted which was just revealed during today’s State of Play event by Sony. The single-player mode is also part of the souped-up version of the game named Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition which is set to launch in October 1, and feature a whole new story expansion named Echoes of Sekigahara.
In the new Roguelike experience, players have to complete a series of Bounties that progressively gets harder and according to the devs, the mode will feel like an extension of Ghost of Yotei’s campaign, which means the combat controls may be quite similar. As you complete the bounties, you’ll be able to earn in-game currency and gradually unlock new techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and more.
But the most standout part of the new survival mode is the addition of Jin Sakai, the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima, along with all four of his signature stances, plus Atsu, Oyuki and Nagato as other playable characters. Sucker Punch Productions’ Andrew Goldfarb has provided a brief description on what it’ll feel like playing as Jin in Ghost of Yotei’s new roguelike mode:
“For Jin, our animation and character art teams worked hard to take his Ghost of Tsushima model and keep it faithful while also applying upgrades for Ghost of Yōtei,” while also adding that “Jin can use his katana with all four of the original stances from Ghost of Tsushima, helping to exploit enemy weaknesses. He also starts with a Sticky Bomb and hankyu.
“Jin’s Ultimate is the Dance of Wrath skill from Ghost of Tsushima, which targets multiple enemies and disarms them, and his Kill Streak is, of course, Ghost Stance, which allows him to terrify the enemies around him and kill a limited amount of them in a single hit.”
The Complete edition for Ghost of Yotei will also include all of the in-game contents that were part of the digital deluxe edition, along with the Charm of Hokkyokusei. Also, players who buy the game before September 30 will get an early unlock of the Sakai Armor in October, which is a throwback to the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition will cost $69.99 USD and players who already own the base game can upgrade and get all of the additional contents for $14.99 USD. The Complete Edition also features new tracks for Watanabe Mode, new photo mode stamps, additional cosmetics for New Game+ and new Trophies for both Echoes of Sekigahara and the Most Wanted survival mode.
