Double Fine’s atmospheric puzzle adventure game Keeper is now available on PlayStation 5, ending its period as an Xbox console exclusive following its initial release on PC and Xbox Series X/S in October 2025.
Announced with a short trailer during Sony’s latest State of Play presentation, the title is currently listed on the PlayStation Store for $19.99, with PlayStation Plus subscribers eligible for a discounted price of $15.99 through September 17. The game puts players in control of a walking lighthouse tasked with clearing a strange blight from a colorful world. Mechanics focus on using the right analog stick to shine light across environments, purge infected areas, and solve straightforward environmental puzzles.
The surprise release follows significant corporate restructuring across Microsoft’s gaming division earlier this summer. In early July, Xbox enacted widespread layoffs across several internal teams and ultimately severed ties with Double Fine. The studio subsequently re-established itself as an independent developer and retained the rights to its existing intellectual property catalog, though it underwent additional internal layoffs later that month.
Now operating independently, Double Fine has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Amnesia Fortnight 2026, Indie Reboot, seeking community funding to host its signature internal game jam. The long-running tradition, which originated at the studio in 2007, allows developers to pitch and prototype new concepts over a two-week period. Studio backers will vote on four prototypes to be developed into full releases, while the project will also fund a documentary produced by 2 Player Productions.
