HINO is going to be coming quite soon, for now people in Japan can try the demo version of the PC game that was announced with a new trailer. If you are curious, yes, this is yet another one of those entries that Toei Games is gonna be publishing now. They grabbed self published indie games with potential and offered a hopefully good deal to the developers. This might end up helping both Toei and UnGloomStudio in the long run, and we can hope they have total creative freedom. We still don’t know when this game will come out but we are sure that it will drop in 2026.
HINO looks very interesting
This one was yet another prospect that Toei could safely bet on without much consequences, as they have been seeking to expand their portfolio of creative works into the video game sphere. One expected that they would just rehash more stuff from their popular franchises like Kamen Rider and other Tokusatsu, but apparently they aren’t going to be doing so. This is good because the world of media needs more new things that are made with care, one cannot rely constantly on the same old things and expect them to work forever.
Of course, one can maintain legacy IPs and still release new entries for them, but the reason media lives is thanks to projects like HINO, which are fresh and innovative bringing yet another world made by someone into the spotlight. Creativity is unbound, and its still impressive to know that all of this is sketched by hand rather than entirely done via digital means. Hopefully HINO can spark the revolution in media that is hand crafted rather than digitized, and while it would be expensive to do it would be so worth it to see what new people can do for the medium.
