Killa is a new indie game focused primarily on narrative, and it got a new trailer showcasing what we can expect from this new entry. PC gamers have tons of luck by having such quality games releasing on the platform, and we can expect more down the pipeline considering that Toei Games has opened their new studio that will bring new IPs to the table. This comes amidst the fact that companies in Japan are now incentivized to produce new IPs and bring a ton of new variety to the medium, so Toei decided to give gaming a shot and now we have this indie being supported by them.
Killa will be supported by Toei Games
We can see that Black Tangerine is the original developer, and it was gonna be a self published title too, however now that Toei decided to make a deal with them this game will have a massive boost in popularity. Publishers are meant to help developers find a footing in this competitive game development world, and there is a ton of games to play nowadays so you need to grab the attention of others. Killa is meant to be a psychological horror 3D investigation game with tons of new features but a big focus on narrative.
It seems that many new IPs are focusing a lot in the narrative aspect, so we can hopefully see a comeback in this aspect that gaming often lacked. Experimental narratives that use gaming as the medium to be conveyed, a thing that really needs to survive for gaming to be relevant as a cultural art. We still don’t know when Killa will release exactly, judging from the current deal with Toei, but we can expect it to happen soon. If you are curious, there’s a demo to try out and you can also wishlist it.
