Once reputable Japanese company behind Professor Layton, Level 5, claimed something terrible today. All of the games since the “AI” craze begun seem to be vibe coded, that is, literally generated from thin air without any human process behind. This is beyond blasphemous to the hobby itself, the medium is supposed to be built upon effort to bring quality to their players. When this corporate rot seeped in, it seems that everything from this hobby just became soulless. Level 5 once used to be respected, but now its just dishonorable to say the least. We at Infinite Start will cover this blasphemy to the gaming medium.
Level 5 has sunken into the slop pit
Thankfully, even the game catalogue of the 90s is filled with stuff that many people didn’t try out, serious hidden gems that, if found, will probably change how you see video games as a whole. The medium used to have a better future ahead, but when corporations trampled away our freedom of expression and aesthetic choices, culture came under siege by the soulless mass that eats everything away.
However, there’s a silver lining, despite the dishonorable CEO claiming this, he also said that aesthetic sense is a key element for game development. Perhaps he referred to art direction, but CEOs are so out of touch with reality that we will never know. As mentioned before, the gaming catalogue is huge, like massive in fact. Nobody finished every game that exists, and nobody will finish every game that exists.
This is a blessing in fact, since we will be able to enjoy culture from the past that warned us about our own demise. 90s classics will become super relevant in these years, and we can hope that people are starting to wake up from the matrix, realizing things are screwed if we outsource or thinking to a machine that flips dice.
