Magneto, a Vanguard character in Marvel Rivals, has had his Ultimate Ability backlashed by Marvel Rivals players recently on social media. Fans complain that the character, known for his Counter Ultimate Ability Meteor M, feels underpowered and just not cut out to handle tons of incoming projectiles due to Ultimate’s various limitations.
Marvel Rivals, launched to critical acclaim in late 2024 by NetEase, received mainly favorable reviews from fans and critics after its release, and quickly amassed to millions of concurrent players on Steam, even selling several units on its compatible consoles. For those unaware, Marvel Rivals features a ton of Marvel characters from the big screen, allowing players to fight with their favorite protagonists and secure wins against other players, while progressing through the ranks.
That said, Magneto, a Vanguard character, has recently faced a widespread backlash among players on Social Media, criticizing his Ultimate Ability Meteor M. In a recent post on Reddit, user TreeTurtle_852 voiced out his frustration about Magneto’s Ultimate Ability Meteor M, stating it could be quickly overloaded by tanking a number of projectiles and simply self-destruct.
TreeTurtle_852 also stated that it doesn’t seem too useful since there is a limit to how much damage can be tanked by the Meteor M shield making the Ultimate Ability, known as a major Counter Ult Ability in the game, seem not to be meeting its expectations.
Replies to the Reddit post featured similar complaints from Marvel Rivals players who felt the same way, with a majority supporting the notion of NetEase making a major change to Magneto’s Ultimate ability. While this isn’t the first time Marvel Rivals players have voiced out their frustrations on Social Media, this is certainly a noteworthy complaint which NetEase should look into soon.
With Marvel Rivals set on a path to continuous success, and with the Season 2 – exoected to release around April 2025 – drawing closer, fans can expect an even more exciting experience with the game’s new characters, and skins set to launch with the Season 2.
