Steam Early Access and survival games have become nearly synonymous with each other, which makes it difficult for emerging titles in the genre to standout these days. Developer Game Island is taking the risk and diving into the saturated market with a survival game of their own that they hope can carve out its own corner. The game is Serum, a survival adventure game that is giving players a free taste before its official debut later this year.
Serum‘s playtest is currently open to all, as long as you request access through the official Steam page. You may want to make that request sooner rather than later since unexpectedly high interest in the title pushed the developer to “[open] the gates wider, inviting more of you to dive into the action” following the conclusion of the original playtest registration period.
If you’d like to know more about Serum, here’s the official rundown:
Unravel the mystery of Serum and survive the fight against time amidst a ruined world of destruction and mutated creatures.
Your life is at stake! The toxic fog obscures the dangers in an apocalyptic world where every second counts. A relentless timer on your arm decides between life and death. Prove your courage, explore the mysterious environment for resources and brew serums for unique abilities. Every dose of serum can make the difference in the fight for survival against mutated enemies. Find shelter in the chaos, search for technology and modify weapons for greater effectiveness. The race against time begins now.
Will you survive?
The Serum playtest will conclude on May 2nd at 7 pm CEST.
