Xiahou Dun has a lot in common with Dong Zhou, and to a lesser extent Baishe. He has the same spirit gain that made the former annoying, with attacks that spread fire everywhere. Add in some rather annoying long range attacks, and you have one of the less enjoyable bosses in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Despite the annoyances, there are some ways to make this fight a lot easier.

How to Defeat Xiahou Dun in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
Set Up
Going into this fight I would consider bringing water, and gear strong to fire. Everything he does uses that element, so the more mitigation you have the better.
Due to how this fight works, the Divine Beast Qinglong is really useful. With enough mitigation you can tank his attacks, along with renew the health of your companion(s).
It also helps to have more morale, though it isn’t as important to be over 20 as some of the previous bosses. That said, if you’re really struggling, this is the first stage with level seven upgrade materials. Consider going back to the village and upgrading if things get too difficult.
Defeating Xiahou Dun
Xiahou Dun will transform into a phoenix looking creature that flys around shooting fire, and swinging a scythe. He is really annoying, as his attacks are fast, damage is everywhere, with limited windows to attack. The hardest part for me was his inconsistent speed.
Some attacks are fast, whereas others are slow, though the important thing is both attacks move until they reach their target. Due to this you can actually exploit his actions by using this to your advantage. When he slowly rushes towards you, running into his attack and dodging forward will almost always avoid the hit. It also helps to be cautious attacking him, as most attacks will be followed up with a quick strike.
To actually defeat him you’ll want to deflect critical hits. I would hang back, avoid whatever attacks he threw at me until he did the desired attack. Even though one deflect wasn’t enough to stun him, the window is long enough where an all out attack should break him. Once you get the critical hit in, repeat the previous process until he is defeated.
