We have barely stepped foot into 2022, which is shaping up to be a huge year for gaming, and we have a potential leak tied to the next Sonic game. Sonic Frontiers, an open-zone adventure announced last month at the Game Awards, was given a release window of Holiday 2022 during its global reveal. But that timeframe may have been narrowed further thanks to the internet’s detective work.
The culprit of this alleged leak is none other than the PlayStation database itself. As PlayStation Game Size points out, the database lists a specific date for Sonic Frontiers despite no such information being provided by Sega. The magical date is said to be November 15th, 2022, which aligns with the broader “Holiday 2022” target.
PlayStation Game Size does note that the extracted info could simply be a placeholder and not indicative of the true launch date. However, November 15th does happen to be a Tuesday, which is a commonly used release day in the gaming industry. We will have to wait a while longer for any type of official confirmation from Sega themselves, but for now we can continue speculating on when we can dive into this “Breath of the Hedgehog” evolution of the longstanding Sonic franchise.
Sonic Frontiers will release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch.
