Rennala Queen of the Full Moon is the main boss that resides in the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Unlike Godric, who specializes in brute strength, Rennala focuses on magic spells, though she has her children that protect her. As with all of the bosses in a Souls game, you are in for some treat when you meet Rennala.

If you are like me that took more than ten tries to beat Rennala, it can get frustrating. However, we are here to help you as our guide this time discusses how to defeat Rennala in Elden Ring.

How to Defeat Rennala in Elden Ring

Preparations:

Since you are dealing with a boss that specializes in magic, make sure that you are wearing armor that increases your resistance to magic damage. Also, make sure that your main weapon is at least +4. Having a Kukri in hand is beneficial as Rennela can bleed easy and those who specialize in brute strength will have an easier time in defeating Rennala. For Astrologers, magic doesn’t deal as much damage to Rennala.

Just like Godric, the boss in the Academy of Raya Lucaria has two phases.

Phase 1

The first phase will put you in a big circular library. As soon as you enter the boss chamber, you will see little children crawling and Rennala enclosed in a golden orb that protects her from any damage. To crack that golden orb, you must find the child crawling with a golden aura on it. Hit the one with the golden aura for the golden orb to crack and for Rennala to drop down where you can attack.

When you see Rennala drop down on the floor, immediately go to her and do a melee attack. Magic won’t do that much damage compared to Melee. After a few seconds, her golden orb will regenerate. Slay the three children with the golden aura for Rennala to be vulnerable.

During this phase, the thing to watch out for is when Rennala mentions something, “born anew.” When she says that, she will use three of her children as projectiles. You will have time to find cover. I suggest finding a cover with multiple layers which include a bookcase and stacks of books. If you somehow hide in a one-layer bookcase, you will die.

Another thing to watch out for is the children that carry a candlestick. Whenever you are out to find the child with the golden aura, the child with a candlestick will blow out the fire. Look for also falling chandeliers that can easily kill you – fortunately, you will know if there’s a falling chandelier above you when you see embers of fire dropping from you.

Once you consume all of Rennala’s HP, it’s time to turn to phase two.

Phase 2

The second phase will put you in somewhat of a small body of water with a full moon on the backdrop. Rennala will now be active in launching projectiles. Your main objective is to hit her as much as you can but be warry as well on the projectiles. The magic projectiles that she launches are slow and can be evaded. Don’t rush!

When you drop her health to at around 50 percent, she will start summoning spirit ashes of the wolf, a knight, and among other creatures in the game. You don’t have to defeat whatever she summons as all you need to do is dodge and wait for it too dissipates.

Phase two of Rennala is most taking your time and dodging. If you have equipment that increases your magic resistance, you will have a high chance of surviving this battle.

Rewards

After defeating Rennala, you will receive 14000 Runes along with her Great Rune of the Unborn, and Remembrance of the Full Queen item.
