Monster Hunter Wilds Extends Second Open Beta Test After PSN Outage

Capcom has announced a 24-hour extension for Monster Hunter Wilds‘ second open beta test. From now, players across all platforms will get an extended period of time to jump into the beta. The extension comes after a far-reaching PSN outage on February 8 saw PlayStation players unable to access the beta for almost an entire day.

The second Monster Hunter Wilds open beta kicked off on February 6, 2025, following the first test back in October 2024, which pulled in over 463,000 concurrent players on Steam. Unfortunately, though, PlayStation users experienced a significant setback since network issues on PS5 and PS4 knocked players offline during the test. In response, Capcom previously mentioned extending the beta and has now confirmed the extra day officially.

According to Monster Hunter Wilds’ official Twitter account, the final phase of the beta, supposed to kick off on February 13 at 7 PM PST / 10 PM EST has been extended up to February 17 at 6:59 PM PST / 9:59 PM EST. While the PSN outage took priority on PlayStation users, Capcom made sure all platforms would get the extended beta to keep things fair. Those playing during the extension will also stay qualified for the beta participation bonuses.

The move follows similar actions from other developers in response to the PSN outage. Bungie, for example, announced an extra Destiny 2 Sundered Doctrine Contest Mode weekend, while PlayStation itself offered a free five-day extension to PS Plus subscribers.

Given how well Monster Hunter Wilds’ second open beta has gone so far, the extended period could see even higher numbers participating. Now that PlayStation players can participate fully in the test, this final phase may eclipse the previous sessions.

With Monster Hunter Wilds already generating significant excitement ahead of its official release, this extended beta provides players with one more opportunity to experience the game before launch. Whether hunting solo or teaming up with friends, the extra day ensures that no one misses out due to technical issues. As anticipation continues to build, all eyes are now on Capcom to see what’s next for one of 2025’s most highly anticipated action RPGs.
