Dishonored 2 gets a Surprise New Patch 9 years after release

Developed by Arkane and published by Bethesda, Dishonored 2 has received a surprise new update for both consoles and the PC platform, after nearly a decade of the game’s original release which was back in 2016. Though the patch is only for fixing some of the bugs in the game and weighs in at just 230MB, but for some reason on the Xbox versions, the game requires a full update instead.

And in the wake of Dishonored 2‘s new update, many in the fan base are a bit disappointed that it’s not a performance fix or a way to make the game run at 60 FPS on the consoles, something that both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S are more than capable of. Currently Dishonored 2 is one of the only titles from the previous generation of games that’s locked at 30 FPS on both PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S which is really odd considering it’s DLC Death of the Outsider runs effortlessly at 60 FPS on those systems. But perhaps the devs will look into rectifying that in the near future, after this patch.

Dishonored 2 is a modern classic...

The patch also apparently updates some of the “Language Depots” in the game, which is a bit vague for now but nonetheless it’s part of what it does.

More than being a worthy sequel to one of the most beloved games in the Stealth genre, Dishonored 2 is also widely regarded as a modern classic as well as one of the greatest games ever. With two protagonists that play remarkably differently, the game offers a plethora of ways to play through it at every instant whether you’re going for the stealthy way or all-out frontal assaults. This easily makes for sky-high replayability as the game ensures no two playthroughs are ever similar or even close.

And although the technical aspects of the game can look a bit outdated by today’s standards, it’s gameplay is still refreshingly fun and immersive. So if you haven’t experienced Dishonored 2, now would be a good time to do so.
