Tabletop Adaptation of Wolfenstein Scheduled for Crowdfunding in Fall 2026

Modiphius Entertainment, Bethesda, and MachineGames have announced a partnership to develop Wolfenstein: The Roleplaying Game, an officially licensed tabletop adaptation of the long-running first-person shooter franchise. The upcoming project has recently launched its official landing page on the crowdfunding platform GameFound, with the active backing campaign scheduled to go live sometime in Fall 2026.

This adaptation arrives during a prolonged drought for the mainline video game series, which has not seen a major entry since the late 2010s. While recent industry rumors and a 2025 NoClip documentary suggested that MachineGames might be quietly working on a third mainline video game installment, neither Bethesda nor the developers have formally confirmed a digital sequel. This tabletop release offers fans their first concrete piece of new franchise material in years.

Built on Modiphius’ established 2d20 gameplay engine, the roleplaying game tasks players with designing their own unique resistance fighters. Setting the action within the alternate-history, Nazi-occupied 1960s America established in Wolfenstein: The New Order, the mechanics require players to roll two 20-sided dice simultaneously to clear skill checks. Lead game designer Evie Moriarty previously revealed that the system will feature a high-stakes mechanic titled “I AM PREPARED TO DIE,” which allows players to instantly maximize their health and momentum at the risk of permanent character death on their next defeat.

This is not the franchise’s first venture into physical gaming, as Archon previously published a miniature-heavy board game adaptation in 2022. However, this new project marks a shift toward collaborative storytelling and traditional pen-and-paper roleplaying. Modiphius brings significant genre experience to the project, having previously adapted major gaming intellectual properties such as Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and Mass Effect into successful tabletop systems. Pledges for the physical manual and its accompanying materials will officially open to the public late next year.
