Konami has announced that a playable demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will launch on October 1, giving players an early look at the upcoming 2D action-adventure game ahead of its official release on October 15. The free trial will be available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, offering progress that carries directly into the full release as long as players remain on the same platform and account.
Developed in collaboration with Evil Empire—the studio behind The Rogue Prince of Persia—and supported by Dead Cells creator Motion Twin in an advisory role, Belmont’s Curse returns the franchise to its classic side-scrolling exploration roots. Set in 1499 Paris, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, the story introduces a new protagonist named Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor Belmont. Carrying Dracula’s curse within her right arm, Rose relies on faster whip traversal, multiple weapon types, Relics, and a new Arcana system that allows her to seal defeated bosses into tarot cards to acquire spells.
Technical specifications released alongside the announcement confirm varying file sizes and performance targets across platforms. The demo requires 6GB of storage space on PlayStation 5, 5GB on Xbox Series X/S, 4GB on Steam, and 3GB on Nintendo Switch. While console and PC builds target 60 frames per second, the Nintendo Switch version is capped at 30 frames per second. Konami noted that players must update to the latest version of the full game at launch to ensure their save data transfers properly.
The upcoming demo serves as a substantial preview for fans celebrating the series’ 40th anniversary year. Detailed information regarding regional availability, content restrictions, and save transfer requirements is available on Konami’s Official Demo Announcement. With classic characters such as Trevor Belmont, Death, and Dracula set to return alongside new antagonists, the October 1 trial gives players a direct head start on the full adventure two weeks prior to launch.
