Xbox layoffs are catastrophic, because not only do they threaten gaming but they also threaten the capability of gamers of all types to access gaming in the first place. Many noted that in the past, Xbox was the king of accessibility, but now that the sweeping reform has hit the company it seems that everything related to accessibility is going to be cut from it. It will be crazy if Xbox lasts for more years that they already do, and I would be surprised to see them survive after 2026. There is nothing but despair in the future of the shoe box PC company.
Xbox layoffs threaten more
Not only do they threaten job positions, but they also threaten people who play these games in the first place. Disabilities are no joke and everyone can become disabled at any moment if they aren’t careful, as we can see however, people with disabilities don’t seem to be a thing that exists according to Xbox. It feels comically evil that this string of events is happening in the first place but here we are, lives ruined because lack of work, and to top it all people who won’t be able to play games anymore.
Sometimes I wonder why I continue to stick with the industry, and then I realize that I yearn for those days when everything was much better and had some semblance of love and care put behind. The moment Xbox appeared things just changed, not in a bad direction per se, but there was definitely some sort of putrid stench when looking at the future. I wasn’t wrong at pointing back then that gaming today would be very different of what it was now, but I didn’t expect such a quick turn towards the worst in a few years.
