Balatro is a huge game, so huge that it has captured the attention of many back when it released and it still keeps capturing more people into the gameplay loop too. Sadly the publisher was sold to IMC, also known as Integrated Media Company, who controls a ton of media sites like GameSpot and others. This is very concerning because we don’t know what they plan for the game but hopefully they won’t be ruining Balatro in any way. LocalThunk is pretty defensive about his passion project, so I have faith in his decision to keep things clean for the game.
Balatro gets bigger
We have to trust that LocalThunk will pilot the situation in the best way possible, apparently the publisher of this game had no proper control over the game itself which means no changes can happen unless LocalThunk gives the final word for it. An update is coming soon for the game, so the most they can do is just hurry the developer behind Balatro to produce more content, at the expense of quality of course. LocalThunk is a person who loves taking their time, and we will see if the following update brings something game changing to the table.
I’m very sure that what’s in store will be something amazing but for now we have to wait and see if 2026 brings us something new. I rather wait another year more so we can get the best update ever instead of trying to rush things over and end up with something half baked that is not worth coming back to. Many of us are still busy trying to clear the Gold Stake difficulty and even trying to get all achievements, some of us are even willing to reset the whole game once the update rolls out for everyone.
