Behaviour Interactive has revealed the first gameplay details for its upcoming Friday the 13th crossover, bringing horror icon Jason Voorhees to Dead by Daylight as the centerpiece of its 49th DLC Chapter. Marking the asymmetrical multiplayer game’s 10th anniversary, the highly anticipated character will officially join the live roster on June 16, following a public testing phase on Steam that begins May 26.
The studio’s decade-long pursuit of the license introduces a gameplay kit built around two primary Killer Powers. The first, dubbed ‘Omnipresent Evil,’ allows Jason to completely vanish from the map. While invisible, he tracks survivors through visual indicators like footprints, while his targets are only warned by a faint red fog. Jason can materialize at key environmental points, such as breakable walls or pallets, instantly destroying the obstacle and causing nearby survivors to scream, exposing their locations.
His second ability, ‘Improvised Carnage,’ incorporates interactive elements spread across the trial grounds. Special containers populated around the map provide Jason with makeshift projectiles, including broken generator parts and misshapen hooks. He can hurl these objects at fleeing targets to stagger them, with the added mechanical benefit of pinning survivors directly to walls if they are struck within close proximity to a solid surface.
The expansion arrives alongside a dedicated cosmetics package titled the ‘Jason Collection.’ Launching in tandem with the character, this paid bundle includes three alternative outfits: Backwoods Terror, Death Forsaken, and Depths of Despair, each offering a distinct aesthetic variation on the slasher’s classic appearance. The addition resolves a long-standing absence in the game’s lineup, which already hosts historical genre contemporaries like Freddy Krueger and Michael Myers.
