Bubsy 4D is finally out, and so far people seem to be loving it, its crazy that we live in a time where a Bubsy game ends up being good. For those curious here is a trailer showcasing the game in action and it really feels like Bubsy got its time to shine again by playing better than it ever did. I still can’t grasp the fact that we are watching a new Bubsy game exist, let alone it being a good game, the name does feel self referential considering that Bubsy 3D is known as one of the worst games ever.
Bubsy 4D is good
And its also out, so if you really want to experience the legendary bobcat by yourself perhaps you should actually get this entry. This is a 3D platform that definitely controls way better than Bubsy 3D ever did, and it also looks like a blast to play. The reception so far is pretty positive, and it shows that with enough effort a classic series that wasn’t so favored can make a proper return to shape. While many didn’t expect this to happen, I had faith that this entry would end up being good.
Bubsy 4D brings new quirks to the series, along with the fact that the game is also made by Fabraz, who is a popular indie studio that made games like Demon Turf. Demon Turf was clearly a main inspiration for this Bubsy entry, but at the same time it does feel like a game that fits in the Bubsy universe, provided we go the route of 3D platformers from now on. I would honestly like to see a re-imagining of the 2D platformer era of Bubsy, but with new ideas and perhaps quirky controls to kickstart the resurrection of 2D platformers.
