Warhorse Studios has officially confirmed that the next installment in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance franchise is currently in development and targeting a release within the 2027 fiscal year. Following days of intense speculation regarding the Czech developer’s future projects, Communications Director Tobias Stolz-Zwilling and Community Manager Tom Grey solidified the release window during a recent studio update, placing the launch between April 2027 and March 2028.
The announcement comes on the heels of a highly successful period for the studio, which launched Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 in early 2025 to widespread critical acclaim and prominent placement in Game of the Year discussions. While specific gameplay details and the narrative scope of the third entry remain strictly under wraps, leadership has confirmed that the upcoming title will maintain the series’ signature open-world RPG format. Prokop Jirsa, who previously served as Lead Designer, is stepping up as the Creative Director to helm the project.
This sequel announcement arrives alongside a major internal reorganization at Warhorse Studios, prompted by their acquisition of the Lord of the Rings intellectual property. To balance both massive franchises, Design Director Viktor Bocan has been appointed as Creative Director for an upcoming Middle-earth RPG. Meanwhile, series co-creator Daniel Vávra has stepped away from active game development entirely to focus on a newly announced Kingdom Come: Deliverance feature film, signaling a broader multimedia push for the historical IP.
Despite the studio expanding its horizons into fantasy and cinema, management has heavily reassured fans that its flagship medieval series remains the top priority. Stolz-Zwilling emphasized that expanding the Kingdom Come universe remains an absolute passion project for the team, alleviating concerns that the new Middle-earth game would cannibalize development resources. Further details regarding platforms and concrete gameplay mechanics are expected to be unveiled closer to the 2027 fiscal window.
