A Single player Tarkov mod got shutdown by BSG the company behind the infamous multiplayer game. This is a huge loss for gamers, since that means that there will be no way to play this game offline by yourself in a reliable way. Thankfully, considering this was an open source project, while there will be no new updates to it you can still download it if you want. Someday in the future someone else will be able to resume work in this and ensure the Tarkov community gets what they deserve. For now, the developers will have to lay low and wait.
Single Player Tarkov mod removed
It is fine for companies to protect the rights to their IPs, it is even an expected thing at this point. Escape from Tarkov is an important multiplayer game that still keeps being maintained. Of course, there is a lot of controversies surrounding it, but we can’t expect a company not to act in a defensive way when someone is modifying their online experience. However, as gamers, we are right to demand the ability for the game to still live even if proper support gets finished by the parent company, they should give us the tools to do so.
At the very least, implementing single player measures should be a thing to consider in every only game, and this Single Player Tarkov mod pretty much would do the work for many companies that have similar games like this. I have a feeling that depending on how laws surrounding consumer protections update, more companies will have to stick to a new standard that isn’t really new at all, it was how things worked during the golden era of gaming. Regardless, BSG is quite a particular company, I’m not sure if people should be supporting them.
