Road 96 just got an amazing teaser trailer coming from the creators, teasing a sequel that is coming very soon I would guess. So far, it is quite tense, as it seems to still follow the story of the first game and where it left off, there is already a prequel to the first game about Zoe and Kaito if you are curious, but it seems rather trivial. If you are into narrative games, stuff like Road 96 will really feel like a modern TT release, which is a very big thing to request in today’s modern gaming industry that seems overly focused in multiplayer releases.
Road 96 is wild
And people didn’t expect it would get a sequel because some parts of the story felt quite concluded. Thanks to the creative vision of the team however, it is clear that this game can keep coming for more twists with a new entry. It makes me wonder if the publisher request for a new game to be made, judging from the success of the first one it would make sense that this was the case. Sometimes publishers go against the creative wishes of the people they employ, but hopefully this sequel for Road 96 is something DigixArt wanted to make.
One of the biggest things about the game is how despite the fact that it is story based, it still decides to procedurally generate the roads you go through to make the journey feel more unique. The fact that this detail is present shows that you can talk about the game with people and each person will tell you about a different experience on what happened while playing. This allows for the game to become more special, as each copy and play through felt more personalized. I wish this sequel to Road 96 is as wild as the first game.
