Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be getting it’s first major DLC expansion this October which will add over 25 hours of additional contents including a new story quest, whole new dungeons and many more. And thanks to a recent Q&A event with the game’s director Kento Kinoshita and producer Naoto Oyama, we got some new details about the upcoming expansion pack which will feature a more challenging difficulty along with various performance optimizations that will allow Dragon’s Dogma 2 Dark Arisen to run at a smooth 60 FPS.

As stated by director Kento Kinoshita: “Both the Forsaken Dominion and Lost Rites are expansion contents, so we’ve designed them to offer battles with an even greater sense of tension and challenge than the main game. We’re aware that there’s a very wide range of player level across the community, so with that in mind, we’re adjusting the balance so that everyone can enjoy the experience—whether they’re just starting their adventure, still progressing through the game, or have already completed multiple playthroughs.

Also, we’re working on a Hard Mode that will provide a satisfying challenge for seasoned players whose stats have reached, or are approaching, the level cap.”

Kinoshita also explained the new difficulty of the expansion: “To add to that, even in Normal Mode, the difficulty gradually ramps up as players progress through the expansion content, with enemy encounters becoming increasingly challenging along the way. As players reach the middle and later stages of the content, we’ve balanced it so that even those who have already hit the stat cap can still enjoy a meaningful level of challenge.”

The upcoming expansion will take players to a new snowy region called Norgan and the main quest should take anywhere between 15 to 20 hours to finish and if you want to explore more, it could take significantly more time.

Also, each of the new dungeon in the upcoming expansion will take around 30 to 60 minutes to complete, which, when added to the main quest as a whole, will likely see you spending about 30 hours or more in Dragons Dogma 2: Dark Arisen.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 came out in 2024 and had sold past a total of 4 million units by the time of November 2025.

The Dark Arisen expansion for Dragon’s Dogma 2 is scheduled to launch on October 9, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
