Bungie Leaves Destiny 2 Glitch Unpatched as Players Farm Tier 5 Armor Sets

A newly discovered exploit in Destiny 2 allows players to rapidly acquire high-tier armor sets with minimal effort, and due to Bungie’s current operational state, it is likely here to stay. Players have found a way to bypass standard drop rates and farm Tier 5 Thunderhead and First Ascent armor pieces in under a minute by exploiting the game’s Postmaster mechanics during Master Lost Sectors.

The exploit relies on manipulating inventory management during solo Master Lost Sector runs. By filling their Engram inventory entirely with Bright or Exotic Engrams prior to completing a run, players force the guaranteed Master Lost Sector armor rewards directly to their Postmaster as decodable Engrams. When retrieved and decoded at the Postmaster located on Neomuna or in the Pale Heart, these Engrams automatically convert into Tier 5 Thunderhead or First Ascent armor pieces, respectively. This method significantly shortens the time required to secure optimal rolls for end-game PvE builds.

The Thunderhead set has gained traction due to its defensive capabilities. Its two-piece bonus, License to Thrill, provides stacking damage resistance at point-blank range whenever a player triggers their grenade ability or activates the Nanotech Tracer Missiles origin trait found on Neomuna weapons. The four-piece bonus grants grenade ability energy upon defeating unraveled targets, or converts that energy into Special ammo progress when stats are capped. Meanwhile, the Pale Heart’s First Ascent set emphasizes elemental synergy, granting elevated Transcendence energy gains based on unique elemental eliminations.

Under normal circumstances, an exploit offering such a lucrative shortcut would be addressed in an expedited hotfix. However, following structural shifts and workforce reductions at Bungie, development on Destiny 2 has effectively ceased beyond critical stability interventions. With major content updates finished and the remaining technical staff focused primarily on disabling game-breaking elements rather than patching beneficial bugs, players are free to utilize this farming method indefinitely.
