Magic: The Gathering will feature hand-signed cards from iconic Star Trek actors in its upcoming Universes Beyond crossover set. Revealed via Wizards of the Coast’s social media, the upcoming expansion includes rare autographed full-art cards of Captain James T. Kirk, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and Captain Kathryn Janeway. A preview video highlighted actor Patrick Stewart signing a copy of his character’s card, signaling one of the biggest chase collectibles planned for the release.
These autographed cards will be available exclusively in Collector Boosters when the set launches on November 13. Beside the signed variants, the crossover incorporates themed “Stardates” bonus cards featuring character reprints and iconic franchise moments, alongside card treatments inspired by the LCARS computer interface. Players will also see alternate printings of shock lands and new Borderless scene cards that piece together continuous artwork from classic Star Trek moments, similar to the layout used in the recent Marvel crossover.
The Star Trek set caps off a dense year of collaborative releases for the trading card game. Wizards of the Coast opened the year with a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion in March, followed by a large-scale Marvel Super Heroes set in June. Prior to the November Star Trek release, August will bring an expansion focused on The Hobbit, featuring new Middle-earth cards and an updated version of The One Ring. The year concludes alongside an in-universe set titled Reality Fracture, which explores an alternate storyline centered on the planeswalker Jace.
Looking past 2026, Wizards of the Coast recently outlined its 2027 roadmap during MagicCon Amsterdam. The game will start the year with Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, introducing an underwater setting to the multiverse. The summer in-universe set, Kamigawa: Titanbreach, will merge the popular planes of Kamigawa and Ikoria, while a later expansion titled Zhalfir will mark the game’s first set dedicated entirely to an Afro-fantasy theme.
