Sony execs recently answered a question regarding their ambitions with the next generation of the Playstation in terms of recapturing players who had switched to the PC platform during the pandemic of 2020. The pandemic had caused a lot of players from the consoles to migrate to the PC cause of the ample time that many of us have had during that period and now, in a recent translated Q&A from a company meeting in June, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President Hideaki Nishino, Studio Business CEO Hermen Hulst and Senior Vice President of Finance and Corporate Development Lynn Azar were asked directly what they plan to do in order to bring back all the players.
And although it’s not currently known who answered the question but it was stated that Sony is looking to evolve the next generation of the Playstation in ways that will provide more value and make the overall gaming experience completely unique to the platform.
“PlayStation has long been strongly associated with the idea of playing in the living room. However, in recent years, more users globally have been using personal monitors. In response, we are selling peripherals such as monitors and speakers to break away from the fixed perception that ‘PlayStation equals the living room’ and to broaden usage scenarios,” they said.
“For the next-generation platform, rather than simply serving as an alternative to PCs, we aim to deliver value that is unique to PlayStation. This includes not only technological advancements but also an expansion of usage styles, enabling a seamless experience that can be enjoyed naturally beyond the living room.”
In other news of the next Playstation, it was previously revealed that the PS6 will cost around $960 solely in terms of component prices which means the total price for consumers will easily go past the $1000 mark. And needless to say, it has drawn huge concerns over the possible price of the PS6 amid the currently overpriced condition of the industry which would make gaming in general far more expensive than it’s ever been.
