DOOM: The Dark Ages is free of Denuvo, and PC gamers are rejoicing on the fact that they can finally own the game without any strings attached. Despite the Steam page still listing this software, many players have reported that its actually not in and they forgot to update the page listing. Denuvo has actually caused players to not buy games on release, and considering you have to pay a license to keep the game safe from pirates it actually becomes more costly in the long run. Not to mention that the protections of the latest version of Denuvo seem to have been cracked by Voices38.
DOOM: The Dark Ages is worth it
If you liked DOOM from 2016 you will surely like this great entry in the modern DOOM trilogy, as it feels as aggressive as ever and sometimes there’s a ton of focus on Melee combat with the new abilities that have you destroying tons of demons with your own hands. The DLC feels like DOOM Eternal, which is great if you liked that kind of gameplay experience, I feel like all three new titles, including DOOM 2016, are a must get for any first person shooter fans who care about the legacy of gaming.
Unfortunately id Software has been purged as a studio, and despite there being information about the team having the same size it had in DOOM 2016, we don’t know if they actually cut out someone crucial that made the game feel amazing in the first place. Regardless, all of these layoffs have been pretty brutal for the industry, and I would have liked if there was a way to stop them alongside the action of unionizing. DOOM: The Dark Ages is now worth it, and hopefully if it gets new content in the future it will be of quality.
