The newest entry in the premier arcade racer franchise, Forza Horizon 6 reportedly has it’s previously scheduled release on the Playstation 5 postponed, to the point that it may not come out on the Sony platform this year. According to Tom Warren of The Verge, the release of the PS5 port for Forza Horizon 6 could skip this year entirely as he wrote the following on his X/Twitter page: “I’m not expecting to see Forza Horizon 6 on PS5 in 2026”.
However, there’s been no confirmation so far regarding the updated release window for the racer on the PS5, but a delay could very well be possible considering Xbox is currently going through a rough phase with the ongoing restructuring of the brand that will see over 3000 employees being let go by the end of the current fiscal year. Also, Xbox may be focusing on it’s return to exclusives with October’s Gears of War: E-Day, which could be pivotal for the company in more ways than one.
And of course, with Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6 on the horizon, Xbox would likely be better off releasing Forza Horizon 6 on the PS5 next year, as most titles would get completely eclipsed by the open world behemoth as we get closer to November 2026.
Forza Horizon 6 takes players to the exotic and breathtaking land of Japan with a map that’s confirmed by the devs as their “most dense and vertical map yet.” The racer also features authentic Japanese car culture with a staggering 550 plus real world cars including “classics, featuring cutting-edge engine audio and updated steering animations with up to 540 degrees of wheel rotation.” Players can explore and drive around a vivid and almost photorealistic version of Tokyo featuring everything that you can expect from one of the most unique and vibrant cities in the world, all throughout different seasons plus all the changes and challenges they bring.
The Standard Edition of Forza Horizon 6 costs $69.99 while the more expensive Premium Edition includes the game’s first two expansions, the game Car Pass, two “Car Packs”, a “VIP Membership”, and more.
Horizon 6 became a critical hit upon release as the open world racer has garnered a highly impressive Metacritic Score of 91 along with a user score of 8.8, along with perfect or near perfect ratings from at least a dozen outlets which means if you’re into racing games, you just can’t go wrong with Horizon 6.
