Crown’s Trial just got a trailer to announce the demo and its actually quite the competent PC game if you are a fan of boss rushes and also the Dark Souls series. Of course, this game is branded until a new genre word created as the developers, that being “Souls-lite”. I don’t really know what that word even entails, but it might be referring to the fact that it only focuses on having bosses similar to the popular From Software series rather trying to be a game of that kind. This might be one of the few moments that feels proper to just spawn a new term based on an old one.

Coming in 2026, Crown’s Trial will be quite the tough game and a must get title for anyone who really likes Dark Souls boss battles. The aesthetic of this one is also quite interesting and smart when it comes to resource usage, as it really has some minimalist polygon placements that surely make the game less intensive. Nowadays when you kick a rock, you find a thousand games trying to emulate realism in some way or form, and they all end up looking the same and playing the same.
Realism is getting very old now, and the point of games is that they are art and they are also varied. Crown’s Trial is yet another drop of variety in the sea that is gaming, and we need a stream of variety so the hobby can be revitalized to its former glory. There is no more information about when in 2026 will this game release, but surely in the next months, considering that the demo has dropped, we will have information about it and I will be there to cover what would come next for it.
