Bungie has officially confirmed the permanent disabling of a primary perk on Destiny 2‘s Cyberserpent Null armor set across all Crucible playlists, including Iron Banner. The decision directly targets the set’s four-piece bonus, Bountiful Munitions, following the discovery of an exploit that allowed players to spawn infinite Special ammunition during competitive matches. Although the armor set will retain its intended functionality throughout PvE content, the studio confirmed that the PvP restriction is absolute and will not be re-enabled in future patches.
Earned through Gambit matches, the Cyberserpent Null set centers around its two-piece bonus, Adrenal Rush, which provides enhanced weapon handling and reload speed after sprinting. The four-piece bonus, Bountiful Munitions, was designed to reward player kills with Special ammo progress whenever Adrenal Rush was active. However, the synergy created an unintended loop in Crucible matches, allowing players to bypass standard ammo restrictions entirely and maintain an overwhelming advantage over opponents.
This permanent ban marks the latest in a growing series of swift restrictions applied to high-tier gear within the Crucible sandbox. Just weeks prior, developers were forced to disable armor sets from both the Grasp of Avarice and Duality dungeons due to critical combat bugs introduced in recent updates. Similar measures were taken when the Exotic trace rifle Divinity was disabled during Pantheon encounters to prevent fireteams from completely skipping boss mechanics during the Insurrection Prime fight.
The choice to issue a permanent shutdown rather than a targeted balance patch underscores the shifting maintenance realities for the long-running shooter. With internal engineering bandwidth increasingly constrained following recent studio restructuring, Bungie has opted to restrict malfunctioning gear bonuses outright rather than dedicate extended live-service resources to complex bug fixes. For the remaining Crucible player base, this mandate forces an immediate shift in loadout strategies, as Bountiful Munitions is officially retired from competitive play.
