Star Trek: Shadow Frontier has been revealed on PC and while we still don’t know much information behind it, we know that Bloober is going to be making it. Bloober Team is quite a controversial figure in gaming, becoming even more polemical as the release of Silent Hill 2 Remake happened. Many people claim that they just do cheap horror, and provide nothing particularly good to the genre aside from cheap thrills. Honestly, many of the claims seem true, I didn’t like the remake of Silent Hill 2 because it failed to preserve the artistic integrity of the game among other problems like making the boss fights lose their meaning.
Star Trek: Shadow Frontier coming soon
We don’t know when it will release, we also don’t know if it will be well optimized. I have a feeling it will be yet another Unreal Engine 5 project and we all know those tend to be rather finnicky when it comes to optimization and accessibility. I genuinely hate the fact that most of the triple A industry pretty much relies in Epic Games to get their games out because we need to remember that Unreal is an Epic creation after all, so there’s a certain taint to the games spat by the machine.
Star Trek: Shadow Frontier will put us in the shoes of Ro Laren, as we explore her psyche in an attempt to save an old friend. But this won’t be easy as the planet we will visit is inherently hostile, and we are just a woman grappling with the demons of our past against things that cannot be comprehended. I’m very sure the story is going to be pretty devastating, considering the publicity behind shows that its a mature and edgy game all around. Hopefully Star Trek: Shadow Frontier brings a good narrative that remains consistent and enjoyable.
