Activision has deployed a fresh update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, targeting several persistent multiplayer bugs and implementing crucial weapon restrictions to preserve competitive integrity within Ranked Play. The patch specifically reins in the dominant MPC-25 submachine gun meta by barring players from equipping specific high-performance attachments during competitive matches.
Prior to the update, the MPC-25 had quickly established itself as a dominant force in Ranked Play due to its superior hipfire accuracy and high damage output. To establish a more level playing field ahead of Season 4, the development team has officially prohibited the use of the Flowguard Foregrip, the Recoil Sync Unit fire mod, the K&S Compensator, the K&S Brake-2B, and 5.56x30mm FMJ ammunition. It remains uncertain whether these restrictions will be lifted or adjusted when the next major seasonal update drops.
Beyond competitive weapon tuning, the patch delivers a series of necessary quality-of-life fixes to the broader multiplayer experience. Players will now see their active weapon firing modes accurately reflected on the user interface, resolving a bug where the UI failed to update when toggling modes. Additionally, a frustrating exploit involving the Black Hat field upgrade has been resolved; previously, hacking and placing an enemy Sentry Turret could leave players frozen in place, holding an undeployable asset.
The update also brings welcome fixes for dedicated Call of Duty: Zombies players. A lingering progression bug that blocked players from unlocking the prestigious “Aether Ruler” title has been corrected, allowing players to finally claim their reward after clearing the Totenreich map with all eight Wicked Relics active. Minor cosmetic issues, such as missing Molotov skins in loadout menus, have also been addressed, alongside tracking fixes for Endgame’s Act II challenges.
