Scaling Issues Force Epic Games to Vault Llama Riding in Fortnite

Scaling Issues Force Epic Games to Vault Llama Riding

Epic Games has officially disabled the ability to ride Supply Llamas in Fortnite following the discovery of a glitch that inadvertently altered player hitboxes and character models. The bug, which surfaced shortly after the mechanic became a permanent fixture in the battle royale, allowed players to drastically manipulate their in-game stature, shrinking to the size of a prop or ballooning into a massive giant.

The issue stems from the Llama Riding and Shoulder Riding mechanics originally introduced during the game’s April Fool’s Day update. While most of the holiday’s “Big Head” mode features were intended to be temporary, the riding animations remained in the game due to high player engagement. However, the interaction between these mounts and player collision data created an exploit that gave users an unfair—albeit comical—advantage in competitive play. By triggering specific animations, players could effectively hide in plain sight or peer over structures they shouldn’t be able to see past.

In a statement released via the official Fortnite Status account, developers confirmed that both Llama Riding and the Shoulder Ride emote have been pulled from all active playlists. The studio is currently investigating the underlying physics conflict to determine if the features can be safely reinstated without compromising the integrity of the game’s combat. No specific timeline has been provided for a fix, leaving fans of the whimsical transport method stuck on foot for the foreseeable future.

This technical hiccup arrives in the midst of a packed Chapter 7 Season 2, which has focused heavily on a Game of Thrones crossover and the long-awaited transition of Save the World to a free-to-play model. Despite the removal of these mounts, Epic continues to push forward with its collaboration roadmap, including the recent launch of Ben 10 cosmetics and persistent rumors regarding an upcoming Overwatch collection. For now, players will have to settle for traditional vehicles while Epic works to ensure their next ride doesn’t result in a accidental growth spurt.
