One of the biggest highlights of the upcoming and hotly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is it’s completely overhauled combat system which is expected to be far more dynamic, reactive and fluid than it’s been on the original 2013 release. Where combat in the original Black Flag was fairly engaging and satisfying, it was also highly repetitive in the long run and would feel terribly outdated in a post-Origins slate of Assassin’s Creed titles which are far too immersive while being way more versatile.
Through a recently leaked presentation of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, some of the characteristics of the newly reworked combat system in the upcoming title has been revealed by Matt Ryan where he stated:
“The combat system has been entirely reworked into an action-oriented experience. While wielding dual swords, pistols, and hidden blades, every move now plays a specific role with faster and more fluid attacks and combos. Land a perfect parry to open up your target for an instant kill, then follow with up to four chained takedowns.
Use walls, ledges, and breakables to your advantage. Keep track of your opponents and use all your tools to level the playing field.”
And according to the report by Insider Gaming, the combat in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced looks significantly faster, more intuitive and fluid than the original and also features a vastly different HUD with two mini-menus in each bottom corner which allows for seamless switching between the different types of weapons and items. Also, the combat now shows prominent visual cues for enemy attacks including different types of attacks and threat levels which is sure to bring far more depth and diversity into the gameplay.
The Black Flag Remake is also reported to cut out the modern day segments which were present in the original game and instead focus on the internal struggles of protagonist Edward Kenway in ways that we haven’t seen before, which could be a bit divisive for players of the original title.
