Although Starfield on the PS5 had been a highly anticipated title, the recent launch of the space epic from Bethesda on the Sony platform wasn’t exactly smooth, with tons of technical issues such as crashes and other form of annoyances that were reported by many players on the platform. But thankfully, Bethesda has now responded to the string of complaints from players experiencing technical problems in Starfield and promised a hotfix that’s going to be released this week which will take care of a lot of those issues, at least.
In their official X/Twitter page, Bethesda posted the following: “Thanks for sharing your adventures across the Settled Systems this weekend — we’ve loved reading them! We’re aware of some reported PS5 crashing issues and have narrowed them down to a small number of causes. We’re addressing these in a hotfix we’re aiming to release this week. Thanks for flagging, and we’ll keep you posted.”
Although Starfield was kind of a technical mess even when it was launched on the PC and the Xbox systems, with low FPS on sufficiently high-end systems and tons of other smaller but noticeable problems, it’s really not all that surprising that it’s PS5 port would also have a fair share of performance issues on the Sony platform.
After almost three years of it’s original release on the PC and the Xbox Series X|S, Bethesda’s space faring RPG epic Starfield came out for the PS5 on April 7th with a massive Free Lanes update along with it’s second major expansion pack named Terran Armada. And although they both provided tons of engaging contents for players, ultimately they didn’t amount to revitalizing the game in any meaningful way.
Starfield came out on the Xbox Series X|S and the PC platform back in September 2023 and since early 2024, there have been speculations regarding the game’s release on the Playstation 5.
