Mafia: The Old Country

Developer Hanger 13 has released the August 28th Title Update for Mafia: The Old Country which contains a ton of fixes and improvements to the game including issues related to visuals, gameplay, animation and even UI. The latest patch also comes with several platform-specific improvements targeted for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, so yes this update is pretty vital and will improve the overall gameplay experience of Mafia: The Old Country in a myriad of ways.

The new patch removes the ghosting effects in cutscenes which occurred previously when upscaling was enabled, also removing flickering from hair which moves more naturally during cutscenes now. The update also fixes a bug that was causing Mafia: The Old Country to crash when DLSS 4 Frame Gen was turned on so the game will now look much better when running with DLSS 4.

Several gameplay improvements have also made it’s way to Mafia: The Old Country through the latest patch, which will now make companions like Luca and Cesare behave more accurately than they did in the base game. Playground Games Confirms 15-to-20 Hour Campaign for Fable Reboot Playground Games has confirmed that the upcoming Fable reboot will feature a mainline story lasting between 15 and 20 hours. Speaking during a group press session at Gamescom 2026, associate game director Will Kennedy outlined the scope of the project, stating that the central questline is paired with a similar 15-to-20-hour block of side quests and open-world exploration. Beyond authored content, the developers emphasized that the title’s simulation and life systems allow for indefinite play depending on player investment. Full coverage of the interview context can be found in Polygon’s developer Q&A. This targeted duration keeps the reboot in line with the structure of Lionhead Studios' original trilogy rather than the massive scale of modern role-playing games. The 2004 original averaged roughly 12.5 hours for its main path, while Fable II and Fable III clocked in at approximately 13 and 13.5 hours respectively. By keeping the core path concise, Playground Games appears focused on density and narrative pacing rather than padding out the experience with mandatory filler. Community reception to the announcement has leaned positive, particularly among veteran players who prefer tightly structured campaigns over 100-hour commitments. As discussed in a active Reddit community thread, many players welcomed the focused runtime, noting that the series' signature alignment shifts and choice-driven paths naturally encourage multiple playthroughs. The game’s optional activities will include property ownership, local employment, and dynamic NPC interactions, extending gameplay well past the main story credits. Following previous delays, Fable is scheduled to launch on February 23, 2027, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
