Dragon Age: Veilguard

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has landed on Game Pass, making Bioware’s latest entry in the classic Dragon Age series of RPGs practically free for all subscribers on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and in the cloud.

So if you’re a member of Microsoft’s popular subscription based service, you can try out the 2024 action RPG without needing to pay for it, which is a pretty great deal by itself cause Dragon Age: The Veilguard had received mostly positive reviews upon release from the majority of critics and gamers. Of course the game was also largely divisive especially among the fanbase but strictly from a gameplay perspective, Veilguard still offers an enjoyable experience overall.

The game being available on Game Pass also represents EA’s last-ditch effort to help Dragon Age: The Veilguard reach a large number of players who wouldn’t want to pay for the actual game mostly cause of the less-than-stellar reception it has garnered since release. And that’s perfectly understandable cause if you had played the earlier games in the series, Veilguard will feel as a game that’s actually in conflict with it’s roots, mostly in terms of it’s narrative beats and character works which do come across as particularly shallow and just not worthy of the Dragon Age pedigree.

But beyond that, Dragon Age: Veilguard still has the unique Bioware DNA in it somewhere, which bears the markings of some of the most beloved and endearing RPGs ever made in the history of gaming and that alone is the saving grace of the game as it still makes it worthy of your playing, in more ways than one. So from that perspective, Veilguard being available on Game Pass makes it totally worthwhile, while at the same time bringing a degree of sadness to all longtime fans of the series as this clearly wasn’t the way anyone had envisioned how the latest entry in the iconic Dragon Age series would play out.

Dragon Age: Veilguard came out on 31 October 2024 for the Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
