Right in the second line of their statement, they misunderstand the campaign, and claim some unrelated things its not aiming to be, along with spreading misinformation. One would think that this is because its a governmental organization that has no idea how video games work, but in reality, they know pretty well since they are a nefarious lobby composed of all terrible companies such as EA Games, Ubisoft and even Epic Games. Videogames Europe is a lobbyist group formed by the biggest companies in gaming, those that do not want you to own the things you buy in the first place. They are suggesting that doing the things asked by the petition are “impossible” since its “costly” for them to do so, despite the fact that they sit on trillions of dollars. Not to mention, twisting the narrative in such a way as to suggesting we are actually telling them to do it the “costly way”. What people want is access to the live service games to properly preserve them, to avoid them from fading away.
Greed and capitalism go hand in hand as the system rewards those who exhibit that behavior, and when its deep rooted in the industry only bad things happen to the things we love. What once was art, ends up becoming just another business, what was creativity ends up being replaced by automation, if you have memories that you hold dear about the medium, would you abandon them and bend your knee to these corporate tyrants?
